Lord Mallikarjuna temple at Srisailam

This shiva temple of AP is home to one of the 12 jyotirlingas hence held in high regard among followers of shiva. Another highlight of srisailam is that, the jyotirlingas is goddess Bhramaramba Devi (one of the eighteen Maha Sakti Peethams) which is quite a unique combination and it is the only known kind present in India.  Srisailam is located on the Nallamala range mountain hills and the temple is located at the banks of Krishna River in the Kurnool district of AP. The place is crowded by devotees from all over India during the Brahmotsavalu (Mahashivratri) festival.

Sri Kalahasti near Tirupati

Sri Kalahasteeswara temple is one of the important Shiva temples of AP. It is located in the Chittoor district of AP and this temple town is on the banks of river Swarnamukhi and neighbor to Tirupati. The Shivalingam is in the form of Vayur lingam here in this temple and Devi Parvati known as Sri Gyana Prasunamaba is worshipped here. Bheemeswara Swamy Temple at Draksharamam

The Bheemeswara Swamy Temple at Draksharamam is one of the most important Lord Shiva temples of AP and of South India. This temple is held in high esteem as it is one amongst the five Shiva Pancharamams and is also a Ashtadasa Maha Sakti Peethams. Not only is it an important Sakti Peetham but is also an important Siva Kshetram. This holy temple is located in the east Godavari District of AP and Mahashivratri festival here attracts devotees from all over the world.

The Pancharama Kshetras

The Pancharamas are 5 ancient  Lord Shiva temples in AP which are home to 5 Sivalingas made from one Sivalinga.  The five places of Pancharamas are as follows:

  1. Amararama- located in Amravati, Guntur district of AP
  2. Draksharama-located in Draksharama, East Godavari district of AP
  3. Kumararama- located in East Godavari district of AP, precisely Samalkot
  4. Ksheeraramam- located in Palakollu, West Godavari of AP district of AP
  5. Somarama- located in Bheemawaram, West Godavari district of AP

On a spiritual journey, it is a special feat in itself to actually be able to visit these temples as they are located in AP and very well connected by roadways and railways. During Mahashivratri, huge crowd’s of devotees throng theses temples and puja’s are performed with even more excitement by the temple priests.
